These x-rays (and other photos here)show the horse on the previous Founder Page. The x-ray to the left was taken in May, the middle one was July, and the right one was September. You can see that the palmer angle (red) has improved by approximately one degree, and the bone alignment is staying roughly the same in all photos. We will look at photos on this page to try and understand the transition that has taken place with the hoof capsule itself. Take particular notice how we have developed a deeper hoof capsule and a healthier heel region.
The history here is that this "Cushings" horse showed mild lameness in May (first set of x-rays, then improved. At the time of the second set of x-rays {all x-rays taken during same week (3rd of 4 weeks)of the shoeing cycles}the horse was laying down much of the time and developing mild bed sores. I FULLY applied my Symmetrical Hoofcare Protocol (SHP) after these x-rays were taken. The following day the horse was mobile most of the day. Two days later the pain meds were decreased and at the end of 5 days the horse was off of all pain meds and trotting in the field. It has now been 6 months and to date, the horse has had no pain meds since and runs and bucks in the field regularly at the age of 22+ years.

The photos here are dated as follows. Top Left August (horse was in too much pain to take these shots in July) Top middle was September. Top right was October. Bottom left was December and bottom right was January. Compare September (top middle photo) to the x-ray at the right end of row of x-rays.

Again; the use of physics has enabled me to better correct growth direction by eliminating unnecessary strain in adverse directions.
While I am not saying that the use of SHP will solve all problems and specifically that of Founder, What I am saying is that to not get the PHYSICS CORRECT will greatly limit the desired effects of other things that we do to horses feet. If we simply apply products and theories with little or no regard to the effects that it (they) have on the physics of the hoof capsule, we do not reverse anything, we only create an entire different set of conditions to have to deal with.

One thing that took me awhile to grasp was that just because we see things that look like they are digressing from one month to the next does not truly mean that what is happening inside is digressing. Looking at these photos is a great example of that. The foot looks worst in the bottom left photo than in previous photos. But when we stayed the course, we can readily see that we were on the correct path to redeveloping this foot. Many times I see such a transition. But when this occurs and we stay on track, the end result has been consistently positive. That is what it means to use a PROTOCOL instead of simply reacting to the immediate observation!!!
These photos were taken as follows. Top left was July, Top middle was August, Top right was September, Bottom left was October, Bottom middle was December, and Bottom right was January.
Note that the foot appears to be more under the horse and the toe has taken a much improved angle at the upper end.(New growth area)
